born to run

My book club is reading Born to Run, by Christopher McDougal which I just finished.  I don’t know exactly what I expected from the book, but it was very different.
While I was reading it, I was not sure I liked it. I felt it went off in too many different directions. But by the end, I decided that I really enjoyed it.
It covered many aspects of running long, long distances and presented the information in a totally unusual way through discussion of shoes, food, drink, fellowship, spirituality, and running style.
I’m not even a runner but I got a lot out of it.
Jane (Feb. ’11) adds, “Two weeks ago I went on a women’s retreat, which offered opportunities for spiritual growth.  The peacefulness that I felt when I was there has stayed with me most days.”
