Georgene (Sept. ’18) writes, “Back in August, one of the questions was ‘I was born in….’

Here’s my reply, ‘I was born at Quintard Hospital, San Diego CA, in 1953. In 2001 when my husband and I moved to San Diego from Michigan I thought it would be fun to try to find my birth hospital.

I was able to find a 1940’s ad for Quintard Hospital online from a historical society. Quintard was torn

down in ‘59 or ‘60 to make way for the I-5 corridor.

It was a box of a building with many steps up to the entrance –I’m   guessing the emergency entrance must have been in the back!

The military housing my folks lived in is also gone but I found the home in El Cajon that we lived in when my brother Alan was born (1955)  as well as the Clairemont Drive home we lived in 1957 when my brother Patrick was born. That home is 888 sq ft, 3 BR, 1 bath and valued at $635,000.

Who says California real estate is not expensive!’ “
